How We Verify Businesses

When you’re trusting someone with your dog, “listed on the internet” isn’t enough. Every business on Canada Dog Care carries a trust status so you know exactly how much has been checked — and by whom. Here’s what each level means.

Our four trust levels

Listed

The business appears in our directory from public records or an import. We haven’t yet confirmed the details with the owner. Useful, but unverified.

Claimed

The business owner has confirmed control of the listing — by verifying their business email or phone — and now manages its information. You’re seeing details maintained by the business itself.

Verified ✓

On top of claiming, we’ve checked the business against an official signal — a business licence, registration, or matching Google Business Profile — and recorded the date. A Verified badge means a real person on our team confirmed this is a genuine, operating Canadian dog business.

Certified ✦

Our highest tier. The business has provided proof of insurance and any relevant professional certifications — for example, a groomer’s certification or a veterinary licence. Reserved for businesses that meet the standards dog owners care about most.

What a badge is — and isn’t

A badge confirms identity and the specific checks named above. It is not a guarantee of quality, price, or outcome, and it isn’t an endorsement. Always use your own judgement, read reviews, and contact the business directly. Verification reflects what was true on the verified date shown on the listing; we re-verify annually.

Spotted something wrong?

If a badge looks inaccurate or a business has closed, use the Report link on any listing. We investigate every report.
